Parent Volunteers
Head referee - Runs the meet, the whole meet. Must be trained.
Starter - Head ref's right hand man/woman. Events can't start without a starter. Must be trained.
Judges - 3 judges needed per half. You are watching for DQs. You must be trained, but there is an online training option you can complete before Tuesday *wink wink*. (Swim experience is helpful.)
Meet Manager/Timing System (computer) Operator - 2 per half. You are making sure the timing system is working and the meet is running and being recorded correctly. Must be trained.
Scorer/Time Averager - 2 per half. You are taking the recorded times and verfying them. Must be good with numbers and quick to learn. Short crash course at meet can be provided.
Clerks - 4 needed per half. Have you ever herded cats? Then, this is the job for you! You will be assigned a lane and your job is to make sure the swimmers "on deck" are in order and ready to go. The "extra" clerk is the Where's Waldo champ that finds the missing swimmer (or finds someone else that can). No training needed - but patience and quickness necessary.
Chief Timer - 1 needed per half. You are starting extra stopwatches incase a timer's watch fails. Also leading timers meeting, alongside experienced Jonathan Jarrett. No training needed - but timer experience helpful.
Timers - 9 per half needed. The GO TO option if you are new to this. The system starts the watch and you press the button when the swimmer touches the wall. There are 3 per lane, so you can't mess it up. You also have front row view of your swimmers competing! No training necessary.
Runner - 2 needed per half. Another GO TO newbee option. You are just picking up DQ slips or timer sheets and bringing them to the ref/computer table. No training necessary.
Concessions - 3-4 needed per half. You will be helping with fast paced concession sales in a tight space. No training needed.
Parking Attendant - 2 needed. You need to come super early and have thick skin. You will remind people that only "the list" and handicap can park in the pool lot and NO ONE can park in the golf lot. You will also direct people where to drop off their swimmers before going to park in the neighborhood. No training needed - but RBF and muscles are a plus. (You also will have the 2nd half free to help again. ;))
DQ recorder - 1 per half. You will sit at the computer table and enter the DQs into my handy-dandy google form. If you have your own laptop and hotspot, that's a plus (if not, I can bring one). Super easy and means you get to sit down! No training needed.
Heat winner prize distributor - 1 per half. You watch carefully and give the winner of each heat a lei for being a super star. Who doesn't want to give out prizes? No training needed - just need to pay attention. Non-completing teenagers can get volunteer hours for this! Just see Abigail or Amanda
